God is Amazing!

Our God is really amazing!
Our team members that were feeling a little sick are doing great now. The building project continues to advance, the VBS team had a great time in Ayapa and the ladies continue to feed us as kings.
On Friday, our three day revival was started. So far three people have come to Jesus and several have recommited their lives.
Something new is that Berea Baptist (pastor Franklin's church) is got their own little TV station. Just yesterday, while visiting a pastor in yoro area, I was surprised to see Joly (pastor Franklin's daughter), now ten, directing a 60 minutes program for children, speaking like a pro, smiling, and relaxed, telling the story of Cain and Abel. asking questions and inviting kids to call back to the station. The most impacting part of it was to hear that little one praying for the audience, just ten, with a missionary heart.
Yes, we have built some buildings, that is important, but it is good to see how our joining God where He is already working is impacting the lives of people for eternity.

Update on first five days

I am sorry it has taken so long to enter information on our blog site. Our team left Louisville Standiford Airport at 6:00 am Sunday morning with only one hitch. That was Shane Cortney arrived at the Airport and realized that he had left his passport at home. After a frantic call to his wife, she jumped in her car and drove about 80 mph and she arrived in time for him to make the flight. She had to drive from Bedford.
We arrived at San Pedro Sula, Honduras without any other problems. Terry Henderson, Pat and Chris Dais arrived a few minutes after us. The only problem is that Chris arrived in a Wheel Chair. He had been vomiting and had diarrhea. He was badly dehydrated. We had to take him to a clinic in Progreso where he was given an IV.
We then split the team up with one van for three ladies, Terry Henderson, and me to buy the rest of our groceries. The balance of the team went to Yoro to set up our camp. We arrived at Yoro at 7:30 pm. Brother Louis, our missionary and Pat and Chris Davis had to spend the night in Progreso and arrived the next morning about 8:00 am.
The Foundation was in on the church so on Monday we laid about six courses of block and made what I thought was good progress. Tuesday started out with Chris’ dad, Pat, coming down with whatever Chris had so we left him with the ladies. As we got ready to leave we realized we had a flat tire on the right side of our van. After getting the tire repaired, we went on to the job site and by the end of the day, we had the four walls almost blocked up. We had to drive one hour and forty minutes each way. When we tunred off the main highway (which is in terrible condition) you immediately began climbing up the mountain side for forty minutes. The road is full of ruts, potholes, sharp curves, and narrow lanes; but it also has some beautiful scenery.
Yesterday (Wednesday) David Wix came down sick (at the end of the day), he is now much improved. Today we finished all the walls and have about two-thirds of the bond beam forms applied. We also have most of the east side of the church leveled off with fill dirt. We have finished two days of Bible School and showed the Jesus Film on Monday night. The Bible School and Jesus Film was done in Ayapa. Tonight (Thursday) the three pastors with us are preaching a short sermon at Berea Baptist Church inviting the people to a three day revival on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights.
As usual the ladies have prepared wonderful meals and we will all probably gain some weight. Brother Tony is holding up and doing well and he is also our champion eater. Well, I hope this has brought us up to date.                        Arnold Collins

Mud Creek Christmas Missions - Ballardsville Baptist Church
Departure date is Friday, December 17th

The Divine Delivery Mission Trucks will depart early on December 17th to deliver toys and food to Mud Creek in Eastern Kentucky.  The Mission trucks will be loaded on December 16th. Call Ballardsville Baptist Church if you would like to donate, become involved, or need more information #502-222-9165 or email to info@BBCLife.org.

This benevolent ministry operates to share God’s love with hurting people during the Christmas season. We do this by delivering pickup truck loads of food, clothes, and new toys to several ministry locations in Southeastern Kentucky. After making their deliveries, the team of 30-50 people converge on Mud Creek (Grethel, KY in Floyd County) where they deliver one large truckload of Christmas and benevolent related items for the impoverished of that area. This is an all day trip and anyone is welcome to come. You can bring your truck or ride along with another driver.

History on this ministry began in the 90's and Ballardsville became involved with Eula Hall.  Some of the men in the church heard Byron Crawford, Wayne Perky and Terry Meiners of WHAS talking about a place called Mud Creek and the poverty of the area. They reported of the woman who set out to change the health conditions of the area. The men decided to go there and see what was happening. These men from Ballardsville built a dental clinic, a food storage building and a lunch room. From that time forward, Ballardsville has been involved with Eula. For the past 10 years we have been helping with her annual Christmas party for approximately 1000 families. A group of 40 to 50 volunteers from our church and sister churches will spend the day at Mud Creek assembling 1000 fruit and candy bags, and unloading and sorting toys. Several weeks of preparation have to take place before this party can happen.

Over the past few years toys have been donated by two Louisville hospitals and the Marine program know as Toys for Tots. Within the last week, we learned the Toys for Tots program would not be able to help this year.  We will send enough food to make 150 baskets for the neediest families. These baskets will contain a #3 canned ham, potatoes, bread, vegetables, peanut butter, cereal, and other staples.

We will be sending 15 pickup trucks to various benevolent ministries throughout Southeastern Kentucky loaded with food and toys.

At the Christmas party each family will be given one bag of fruit and candy and each child will be allowed to go through the line and choose one gift.  For many, this will be the only Christmas they receive.

We do not have an exact dollar amount for the donations received, but a conservative figure is between $20,000 to $25,000 dollars. Because of not receiving Toys for Tots this year, we are still in need of $3,000 to $4,000 dollars to finish this project.

Every year we wonder how a project this large can come together. The answer is because GOD wants it to happen!  TO GOD BE THE GLORY!
